This 192 piece wooden jigsaw puzzle is John James Audubon's illustration of five species of woodpeckers. The top-left pair are Hairy Woodpeckers, the top-right pair are Red-bellied Woodpeckers (red-bellied woodpeckers have mostly yellow bellies but there's a small red stripe on the lower/center belly region which is not clear here), the angry pair in the middle are Northern Flickers, the parallel pair on the main trunk near the bottom are Lewis' woodpeckers, and the bottom left side/right side pair are Red-breasted woodpeckers.

Puzzle design by Maria Berg. This puzzle has a straight edge and a higher than average difficulty. (To improve the woodpeckers' living conditions, we've replaced their original boring plain background with some sky we borrowed from one of Francesco Guardi's paintings.)

All our puzzles are made of 1/4" thick wood, and laser-cut in USA.

 

Packaged in a small blue box with a magnetic clasp.

    Review: The woodpeckers were the easy part. It was the sky that was the stumbler for me. Since I refused to look at the photo, placing the woodpeckers took me a while, so I finally broke down and looked to see where birds belonged. Still, the sky kept me working at it. Nice puzzle. Not a breeze by any means.

    Review: As I dumped this out my first thought was “This should be easy”. Ha! You’d think I would know better. This was a little toughie for me and very fun to work on and quite beautiful to boot. The color contrast between the birds and the sky sets the birds off to stunning effect. The color of the sky is gorgeous. The cut is clever and challenging and it enhanced my appreciation for the art work. And, it was fun to play with!
