This is a 311 piece puzzle of Monet's famous painting L'ete (Summer). Puzzle has a simple decorative edge (no straight edge pieces!), and many whimsy pieces shaped like French dogs, children playing, and fancy ladies, all designed by silhouette artist Kathryn Flocken. The difficulty category for the puzzle is "really hard". Made of 1/4" thick wood, and laser-cut in California. Packaged in our standard pine wood box. Made in USA.

Review: Harder than it looks. Knobs are not well defined!

Review: This is a complex puzzle: the irregular edges, the swirling grid, and the Impressionistic nature of the painting with a very limited color palette makes it difficult. For example, lots of leaves are just dots and look the same, until you pay attention to the subtile coloration and space between them, which create rhythm and light shimmer. This is also a very enjoyable puzzle: tons of whimsies cleverly framed with anti-whimsies, the conversation between a landscape with few characters (two women and an umbrella) and the whimsies (is the fox staring at the woman or at the squirrel ?). Solving this puzzle is very satisfying and the muted greens and bluish-purple are very soothing. Both the artwork and the design of the puzzle are extremely elegant and well composed.

Review: Pardon the repetition, but I will repeat this review for each of the three Monet puzzles in Artifact’s collection: Bridge, Woman with Parasol, and L'Ete (Which I'm pretty certain is French for, "There's that woman looking for her parasol.") All three puzzles share Monet's distinctive style and pallete. I love the latter's border with the fleur de lis. Best suggestion is to to get a room at the coast during the rainy season and take all three puzzles. All three are excellent puzzles to accompany a spiritual or silent retreat.

Review: I love this puzzle. I had a problem getting the idea of the edge, so I did something I've never done before. I took all the whimsies -- of which there are many very creative ones, some with multiple pieces -- and started building around them. It was an interesting way to complete the puzzle. It is a challenging puzzle, one I will do many times.

Review: This is a lovely puzzle, with delightful whimsy pieces and an irregular edge. Despite its small size, it is quite challenging and a lot of fun to put together. Artifact puzzles are of a very high quality and each puzzle has a unique cut. This is one that I will enjoy again and again!
